IAN SOMERHALDER’S NEW VAMPIRE TV SHOW ON NETFLIX

You may not know this, and if you don’t, pay attention to what I’ll be telling you: Our dear actor, Ian Somerhalder, is not only acting in a new show but also producing. YES! That is correct. You heard it right (or may I say read?!)!!!
He will be back to our screens with his new promising TV show – V Wars – streaming on Netflix, December 5th, 2019.
So get ready because I will be giving you some information gotten from the one and only, Ian, when I and a few more journalists sat down with him a few weeks ago for a round table to talk about it and get all the inside news on it.

V WARS
Let me start off giving you a little description of what the show will be about, coming officially from Netflix.
“A fast-spreading disease that turns victims into blood-sucking fiends pits two best friends against each other in a fight for humanity’s future.”
So basically, we have a virus being spread due to climate change. It affects the character, Michael Fayne (Adrian Holmes), whose best friend is Dr. Luther Swann (Ian Somerhalder). The disease is being spread more and more and Dr. Luther is trying to understand what is going on and find a solution for this as he witnesses his best friend struggling after being affected by this disease and not knowing what he has become.

IAN SOMERHALDER AND WHY HE CHOSE TO TELL THE STORY BEHIND V WARS

(A LITTLE MORE ON V WARS AND WHY IAN SOMERHALDER CHOSE TO TELL THIS STORY)

When we first hear the news that Ian will be on a new show we first obviously want to know what show is this?! And then when we hear it is a vampire theme show it’s impossible not to come along with the following thought/curiosity: “His next show will be about vampires again?!”

I will be honest with y’all. That was one of my first thoughts, yes! Because honestly what we’re used to in this society of actors coming from a long running show is hearing from them that they do not want to go back to new project based on the same theme of their successful project that came to an end. And that sure is understandable, right?
So we ask ourselves, what could have made Ian accept this new project? What does it have to offer of unique?
Well, I’m glad to tell you Ian gives us that answer in the best way possible. And I will quote some of his words. When asked “What was so special about this project?” The following response was given:
“this was my first thing not only outside of The Vampire Diaries but also as a parent – first thing outside the vampire diaries I was producing from the ground up.”
You know why I want to watch this show? Because Ian clearly cares about the human aspect of it and he makes that pretty clear as he talks to us. He wanted to tell this story because he knew deep inside that this is such a diverse global story and for him, he is all about community. For him it’s about getting people together having conversations. He just desperately wanted to tell this story. An authentic story Johnathon beautifully put together and he wanted to tell authentic stories with perspective.
He says: “The social aspect of this show is what really drove me to it.”
Ian just really put his heart on this show and showed us how he cares about the universe, about the people, about the animals, about nature. Like he mentioned, these things aren’t just happening on the show. No! It’s all happening in our world. So he says: “there is something cool about telling a social relevant story as it happens.”
And guess what? He is not only correct but has beautifully put out there all the social aspects we are going through right now: border, racism, disease, fear, politics… and all this happens while people are trying to make a living, raise a family.
Ian wanted to be a part of a show that built characters that resonates with people. And from what I have seen so far and all i could hear him tell, this show has all that and I can feel it’ll definitely resonates with us all.
I had the opportunity of asking Ian one specific question which was wondering how he approaches this new responsibility he has taken on being not only an actor but also an executive producer of this show. And he once again gives us such a caring human answer: “With a lot of perspective and preparation. Lead with kindness and appreciation for every department, every division. And you have to do it reminded that this is entertainment; this is fun! Producing a work environment that is safe, fun, dynamic, inclusive and that is inspiring.”
I am in awe of how much love and respect Ian has shown for this new project. He is definitely very excited for it to finally come to everyone’s screens and for everyone to watch it. Please get ready and enjoy this show that promises to show a very much human side and all social aspects we are so familiar to happening in our world.
That Ian is a very talented actor, we had no doubts. But who would think that his new project would be such an impactful and powerful storyline created to try to figure out what’s wrong in the world and perhaps how we can make it a better place and put so much at risk and have so many bad social impacts on it.
I can’t wait to see the next seasons of this promising show on Netflix! Stay tuned!
