Apesar de o filme ser uma aventura infanto-juvenil, o assunto pelo qual a narrativa se desenrola \u00e9 delicado. Mia, a protagonista, tem pela frente o desafio de encarar a gan\u00e2ncia do mercado da ca\u00e7a aos animais na \u00c1frica do Sul. A hist\u00f3ria, contada sob a sua perspectiva, mostra a luta para realizar os pr\u00f3prios sonhos e defender aquilo que se acredita. Em entrevista, Maistre disse que a \u00fanica maneira de um le\u00e3o n\u00e3o ferir uma crian\u00e7a durante as grava\u00e7\u00f5es seria se os dois tivessem crescido juntos. Por um lado, o fato de usarem um le\u00e3o de verdade acaba prejudicando a montagem no in\u00edcio da obra, com cortes e planos um tanto confusos. Todavia, o animal n\u00e3o computadorizado faz com que as cenas sejam bem mais realistas. Tal realismo, infelizmente, se at\u00e9m ao le\u00e3o. Isto porque o filme vai ganhando tons de f\u00e1bula a medida que progride, com alguns personagens sendo romantizados demais, como, por exemplo, no caso de Jodie (Lillian Dube), a empregada da fam\u00edlia. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No longa, a fam\u00edlia se muda de Londres para a \u00c1frica do Sul, sendo a sua principal fonte de renda uma fazenda especializada na cria\u00e7\u00e3o de le\u00f5es. Sutilmente, mostra-se a perspectiva de cada membro da fam\u00edlia tentando sobreviver no novo lar, cada um \u00e0 sua maneira e com suas necessidades. Mia \u00e9 quem encontra mais dificuldade no in\u00edcio. A garota, rebelde e teimosa, acaba se tornando mais sens\u00edvel ap\u00f3s a chegada de Charlie, o ent\u00e3o filhote de le\u00e3o branco. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ap\u00f3s tr\u00eas anos, Mia descobre que seu pai (Langley Kirkwood) pretende vend\u00ea-lo &nbsp;ca\u00e7adores e decide fugir com o melhor amigo para libert\u00e1-lo. A narrativa se consolida como uma f\u00e1bula com &nbsp;acontecimentos surreais. Mesmo assim, a essa altura, \u00e9 quase imposs\u00edvel n\u00e3o se emocionar. Daniah De Villiers \u00e9 perfeita como Mia e a personagem equilibra os dois lados da hist\u00f3ria, sustentando tanto a fant\u00e1stica quanto a quest\u00e3o da explora\u00e7\u00e3o dos animais.
