The CW’s version of Nancy Drew is bringing the smart teenage detective to life and will definitely be more supernatural, deep and full of dark secrets.
The series description reads as follows:
“Nancy Drew is a brilliant teenaged detective whose sense of self had come from solving mysteries in her hometown of Horseshoe Bay, Maine – until her mother’s untimely death derails Nancy’s college plans. Devastated by her mother’s passing, Nancy swears off crime-solving, but when a socialite is murdered, Nancy finds herself embroiled in a ghostly murder investigation. A supernatural presence begins to haunt Nancy’s investigation, and she discovers that the current crime has an astonishing connection to the unsolved murder of a local girl. Whether the ghost is here to help, or hinder Nancy remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure: Nancy’s going to have to unravel the clues from both the living and the dead to solve the crimes.”
We got the chance to interview the cast and creators of the upcoming series that promises to be the new hit (no wonder it has dominated all of NY).
Attended the press room the CW’s stars Kennedy McMann (Nancy), Maddison Jaizani (Bess Marvin), Leah Lewis (George Fan), Tunji Kasim (Ned “Nick” Nickerson), Alex Saxon (Ace, an original character), Scott Wolf (Carson Drew), and executive producers Stephanie Savage, Josh Schwartz, Melinda Hsu-Taylor (also the showrunner), and Noga Landau, who told us that the story will follow the same line as the original version, but we’ll be able to find much more mystery and affective ties among the characters.
The series is being filmed in Vancouver and just as in the original version the story will have a connection with the supernatural world, but this time, is gonna be something more real, said Hsu-Taylor.
There have also been changes, in this new version, Nancy Drew will be more “adult”, dealing with real problems and having a complicated personality.
Kennedy McMann assumed that she has always been a huge fan of the character, “I look forward to what comes next. I don’t know how I got so lucky” she said.
I’m sure her talent got this and will win many, many fans!
The series premiered yesterday, Wednesday, October 9th at 9 PM on The CW.
Don’t miss this mysterious story!
